Only about 70 years ago, intelligence wasn’t a big factor in what job you had, what other people thought of you and generally how good of a life you had. Back then, bosses choice of employees was more so based on how eager and hardworking you were.
However today it’s very important to have a high intelligence. Smart people spend lots of time making fun of lesser smart people.
Typically, the income of intelligent people is much higher than the income of unintelligent people. How good of an education you have is tightly connected with your IQ, and from 1979 to 2012
the median-income between a family headed by two people with college degrees and a family headed by two people with high-school degrees grew by $30,000.
Today, one of the most important factors for who employers employ, is intelligence. Many employers now ask their applicants for IQ and SAT tests.
This is despite the fact that many studies show that people with lower IQ typically have more self-awareness and are better at taking criticism, factors which are also important in making a good employee.
The writer of the article thinks that intelligent people should, instead of making unintelligent people the butt end of the joke, help them become smarter, so they can get a better education and ultimately a higher paid job and a better life.
One of the ways he thinks this could be done, is by making sure all children are educated by well-trained teaches beginning from the age of 3.
This is because, being educated early in your life is very important for how smart you will become in the future, more so than education at the age of 6-7 when you begin in school now.
