The topic of sexuality and gender is something we have slowly started to discuss in modern times. But despite this, many transgendered people are still frowned upon and seen as not normal by their classmates, or even their parents.
This is a big issue that has to be fixed since no one should ever feel ashamed of who they are, no matter what sexuality they have, or what gender they are.

By sharing her personal story she also engages the audience throughout the entire speech which is very important.
She also engages the audience by directly addressing them with the personal pronoun ''you'' which makes the audience feel more involved and a part of the speech as she is speaking directly to them and not just about people in general.
Another great tool she uses is humor, which is seen at the beginning of the speech when she says ‘’Now if you haven’t figured it out already
I am transgender, but don’t worry, I’m not here to raid your bathrooms and take your women.’’ (p.1, ll.225-226) this is an excellent way of lightening up the audience during this serious subject and it also keeps them engaged at the same time.
