In the short story “A Love Story” the readers are let into the mind and life of a guy whose focal point is the life of a young woman named Anna.
The short story deals with stalking and distorted perceptions of life as the main theme and how parallel lives become a distant, dysfunctional and one-sided relationship.

We feel a kind of sympathy for the narrator because he is so in love with Anna, yet he doesn’t have the guts to speak to her nor leave a comment on her blog posts. His lack of social skills reveals the possibility of a social disorder which could be the rea-son for his lifestyle.
Stalking has become his way of living and obtaining relationships to an extent that seems addictive. The short story is structured in a way that gives the readers the impression that An-na and the narrator are romantically involved but living in a silent and distanced relationship.
This idea breaks when the ending reveals Anna’s relationship with her co-worker and the fact that they don’t live in the same building.
