Racism is a terrible thing. Especially when you are a little girl, who just moved to a new neighborhood and is the only one who looks “different” from everyone else.
Just like one of the characters in the short story “The New Girl” written by Marc Mitchell. The short story is about a girl called Allison and a boy, whose name we never get.

They live in harmony on Prospect Street until the new black girl and her family moves in and disrupts the neighborhood.
The main plot is taken out of Mitchell’s own life. His actions back in the days has sat a stamp on his life today - he is haunted by guilt. I want to know, why he did not talk to the new girl.
