The beginning of the story starts in media res because you as a reader enter directly into a sequential story. This indicates that the story proceeds quickly and you as a reader must focus from the beginning.

In the story, we don’t hear about which country it is about, but we can characterize the country to have lots of big mountains and big nature areas.
A quote from the text says, “It’s so quiet up here he imagines he could whisper her name” - which indicates that it is a peaceful area up in the mountain where you normally to stop the racing thoughts.
The environment is realistic because the circumstance is among mountains and waterfalls. They prefer to spend their time in nature and have fun, but suddenly a drastic change happens.
