A package tour is a package holiday pack where transport, hotel accommodation, travel guide, etc. have been arranged in advance by a travel agency.

The package tour industry op-erates on the consumer market. In 2019 the number of package tour travellers out of Denmark fell by 5.4 percent or 61,600 compared to 2018.

According to Lard Thykier, this is due to the changes in consumer behaviour.

He states that “the downturn can be explained by such rea-sons as a general decline in people’s willingness to make purchases along with uncertainties about the weather and the economy”.

His prediction is that the package tour market will “level out over the next few years”

Air travels stand before a sustainable challenge. Air travels account for 2-4% of the world’s entire CO2 admissions.

Many Danes often respond by saying that they are willing to fly less to improve the climate. This will therefore damage the air travels, thereby the package tour industry.

“Still Air travel is attractive as it is affordable and easy to travel by air, and no other alternatives are in any way easier or less expensive”, says Henrik Gudmundsson.

The package tour market is a red ocean market as there is a lot of competition, whereas Spies, Apollo, and Tui are the leading agencies.
