In the movie The Blind Side we see some of Michael's friends and his mother and they live in the slum.
There are many slum areas in the US and it is almost only coloured people who live in the areas. When you live in a slum area it is hard not to be affected by the people who live there.

In the US it is very hard to break out from the negative social legacy. Because if you are born in a poor family you don’t have the same opportunities as if you were born in a rich family.
In the US you need to pay for your education but also medical help. If you are sick and need to go to the hospital you will get help. But after your treatments you will get a very big check.
If you look at the people who live in the slum areas they will probably almost always be coloured.
