Uddrag
Leonardo DiCaprio uses forms of appeal, which allows his speech to achieve effective communication, as he understands how to address the audience.

Leonardo DiCaprio uses a lot of Logos when he speaks, which you can see when he talks about real events that are happening right now.

“Every week we’re seeing new and undeniable climate events, evidence that accelerated climate change is here right now.

Droughts are intensifying. Our oceans are acidifying with methane plumes rising from the ocean floor.

We are seeing extreme weather events and the West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates, decades ahead of scientific projections” .

This quote is used to show the audience that climate change is happening now, therefore it is necessary to do something now to prevent it.

The effect of DiCaprio using Logos is that he appeals to the audience's sense of logic by supporting his arguments with facts about climate change happening here and now.

DiCaprio also uses ethos to emphasize his sense of community by using the word ‘our’ several times.

“This is now about our industries and our governments around the world taking decisive large-scale action” .

In this quote, DiCaprio unites the people of the world as a collective community by using the word "our" to show the audience that they are not alone on this earth.
