Leonardo DiCaprio uses different rhetorical devices in his speech in the form of antithesis, metaphors and anaphora’s.
The receivers experience metaphors up to several times in the speech, where DiCaprio tries to create an inner image in the readers and listeners.
“Climate change is our single greatest security threat.” (l. 24)
By this is meant that climate change is the most important environmental threat, and that states work together to overcome the threat and ensure the survival of the planet.
The example also contains an antithesis in the form of "Security threat" in that DiCaprio puts an opposing pair against each other. Another example of a metaphor and rhetorical devices.
