Good evening, my name is Cecilie and I'm a politically active student who supports the democratic party in the US.
It is my great pleasure to stand here today, and have the opportunity to speak on such an important subject and current issue that is affecting us all on a daily basis.

That leaves me with the most important subject. Should it be okay to monitor well-behaved citizens who “haven't done anything wrong”?
Certainly, we have seen positive things about surveillance, statistically, it has improved public safety, after security cameras were installed in the public, crime incidents dropped.
Surveillance provides a sense of “safety”, for instance, many people install surveillance at home, only because we can’t trust each other.
It proves that there is a clear necessity and demand for surveillance. But I ask myself if it's ethically correct, and if it is worth giving up some of our “freedom” for?
