Uddrag
The speaker kamala Harris held a victory speech the 7th of November 2020, as the 2020 presidential race was as good as over.
A victory for the democratic party meant that Kamala Harris the soon to be next vice president held a ceremonial speech right before next president of the US Joe Bidden held his.
The vocabulary in the speech I dominated by words with positive connotations 1. Kamala Harris is a woman of Indian descent, which makes her the first Asian-American woman in the White House.
The speech is mainly written in formal style, because as the next vice president speaking to not alone the whole country but also the whole world it´s important to keep a keen tone as the speech has a lot of influence on many people.
The most prominent mode of persuasion in the speech is pathos, as it is used to affect the receiver’s emotions.
She uses it to tell the people about the way the country has been run in the past, and she speaks about patriotism and solidarity which are two huge fundamentals in American history.
