An issue that could be considered one of the greatest issues as a result of Brexit is the idea that Britain is divided following the referendum which is discussed in text 2.
It appears that the older generation of British people mostly voted to leave the EU and statistics on age demographics for the Brexit vote in June 2016 also seems to suggest this:
“Around 73% of young people under 24 voted to remain, compared with only 40% of people over 60.”(ll. 1-2). If Brexit becomes a reality,
it is therefore the younger generation that will pay for it, despite the fact that they have voted against it. The debate has created a generational inequality that has now created a conflict between the younger and the older generation.
This suggests that the younger generation is inclined to blame the elderly for the outcome of the referendum, and for the consequences that come with it.
