Euthanasia is an easy way out for those who wish to die and put an end to their misery, with help from a doctor. Euthanasia has been an ethical dilemma for a very long time and it still is today.
But what I don’t understand is, how can euthanasia be illegal in Denmark, when 71 % of the Danish population think it should be legalized. How can the government ignore this fact and take the liberty of working against the Danish community?
The book “Vil du leve indtil du dør” is written by Hanne Holst Rasmussen and Susanne Fink to show the life of an ill woman called Susanne Fink.
She was chronical ill and for her, every day was a torment filled with pain and suffering. Because of the law in Denmark, she had to pack her suitcase and die in a foreign country. How can this be ethical right?
Frits Schhjøtt, a doctor in Svendborg says “When life is only suffering, grief, pain, misery and something you want to get rid of, then it’s my duty as a doctor to help the patients as good as possible”.
This statement shows another reason, why Euthanasia should be legalized. Euthanasia should also be legalized because people has the right to control their own lives.
