Throughout the years Disney has made lots of changes in their live-action movies – if you compare movies that went through changes, you will easily notice some differences from the classics.
Disney movies has evolved in many ways. Some were just finetuned and others almost changed from their original story.

Another view though sees the change of the princess in a negative way. Debbie Schlussel mentions that the princess looks kind of thick
and that might cause other girls to live an unhealthy life, and don’t care as much about being fit. He eventually adds that it might as well cause disappointment in romantic relationships. (p23l13)
On the other hand, the film’s male character, Maui who is a big and bulky guy, has received a lot of criticize too as he apparently gives a distorted view of Polynesians.
Rebecca later says that young girls at age of 2-3 years old are wanting to be princesses. However, it throws them off reality as the girls usually will not be able to get that “perfect” body as many princesses have in Disney. (p23l23)
Back in 1930s Snow white was unveiled to the public as the first ever Disney Princess. She was represented as the perfect ideal view of women at the time.
Some years later Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella made their way to the public, and that really set a dot for Disney’s princess series.
