I hope you are doing very well in America. Thank you for the lovely letter, you send me, regarding your curiosity about how the danish culture is. I had already intended to write you a letter, regarding us Danes, and how Denmark is as a country.

We are known for being a “happy” country, where you as a human being can accomplish and say what you want. In other words, you have a lot of freedom as a Danish citizen.

We have a democratic government in Denmark and have had the democracy we know today since 1915. The parliament determines the laws and the structure of our society.

The parliament consists of 179 politicians who come from different parties. When the parliament considers a proposal for a new law, it takes place at Christiansborg.

Christiansborg is located in Copenhagen, which is the capital of Denmark. Here, the members of the political parties discuss all bills before finally voting on them.
