Obama made a promise, a commitment when he took office and became president. That certain promise was to fixing the broken immigration system.

He tells how he already did a lot of work and he makes the trust strong with the use of Ethos, because what he has done is true.

To make sure people believe him he uses phrases as for example “Those are facts”. That makes the appeal of Logos, which makes a spokesperson and his speech trustworthy.

He speaks to the Americans, and by that he indirectly puts the focus on their part of the problem. However the problem lays in the hand of whole America, Obama forgets about his higher position, and talks to the audience as if he is one of them. “Our tradition, us, I will, we will” etc.

He puts himself in a place even for those who may be against him, just so they can listens and they fell like they have his empathy.

“Millions of us, myself included, go back generations in this country, with ancestors who put in the painstaking work to become citizens. So we don't like the notion that anyone might get a free pass to American citizenship.”
