Indledning
The article which I am about to analyze was written 3 days after the shooting of Parkland High School by Robinson Meyer who is a staff writer for The Atlantic. Meyer typically writes about climate change and technology and, therefore, the main focus of the article is: High school students engaging in politics through social media.

To get a general idea of the article, I will start with a communication analysis. The sender of this article would be The Atlantic which is an older news source originated in Boston 1857.

According to themselves they don’t stand by any particular political party nor clique, but instead stand by what they call the American idea which consist of the favoring of Freedom, National progression, and honor. Their neutral political position becomes important when trying to analyze their specific point of view.

The intended receiver could literally be everybody in America because of its actuality at the time, however, the article focuses a lot on how the students reacted shortly after the incident through social media, which indicates that the intended receiver is a younger more politically interested audience.

This is backed by the message of the article which as I stated before is how the young students quite explicitly expressed themselves shortly after the shooting, however, the article also has a deeper message at the end of the article where the writer personally writes about what he thinks of the shooting, and how it effects the daily lives of young students. I will cover the latter in more detail later.
