“This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.
We did win this election.” (p. 2, line 28-29) This quote is from current President Donald John Trump's 2020 election night speech on the 4th of November, held in front of a selected audience, but sent out to the rest of the world.
Even though Trump didn't actually win the election, due to his rival, Joseph R. Biden, getting the greatest amount of electoral votes, Trump still believes that he has won the election.
Trump's intention with his speech is to inform people that the election was rigged, and that he in fact won.
Apart from his frequent usage of personal pronouns, Donald Trump’s way of speaking is also quite untraditional compared to other politicians.
He repeats himself a lot, his grammar is less complex and his vocabulary is rather limited, compared to the language of other politicians. Trump uses a lot of simple sentences that most of the time sound childish.
As an example“And then they said, “Oh.” Because you know what happened? They knew they couldn’t win so they said, “Let’s go to court.”
