The civil rights movement and Afro-American peoples fight for equality in America is two very mentioned topics, not only today, but has been the last many couple of decades.
Where thousands of people have lost their lives, in the fight for their own justice. The Butler (2013) is a movie, that definitely projects multiple aspects of this subject.
Not only does The Butler show, how hard it can be, to be an African, living in a Country as America, ruled by white supremacists in the 20th century.

Several presidents are portrayed over Gaines’s time as a Butler in the White House, with him working there for about 34 years.
You could almost say that it is inspiring or gripping to follow the important decisions and actions in the White House, as a fly on the wall, through our main character.
I also thought it was nice to see the bonds and friendships Gaines made over his time in the White House, not only with his colleagues
but also with the presidents. He develops a strong bond with JFK, of where he finds out, who he really is behind the facade.
In general, I think this is a very well-made movie, which portrays the situation at that time very well, with lots of good representation.
The storyline works well, and I really like Gaines’s character development, from child to adult. Almost every little detail is shown, in which has influence on the person he becomes at last.
The development is very significant towards the end, when he finally understands his oldest son’s actions, and reconnect with him, by peacefully demonstrating for what belongs to them.
I have chosen the ending scene of the movie; I think it ties the whole movie very well together . From the very start of the movie, where we see racial segregation at is worst, right to the very end, where America elects the first black president, Barack Obama.
