Taking it from the beginning of what we call early modern immigration, we have the French protestant Huguenots. They were given sanctuary by King Charles II, due to them being persecuted by various French kings, the most brutal being Ludvig the 14.

Being former silk-weavers, they brought new energy to the British industry, and raised silk to be an important fashion item in Britain.

Already here you see how immigration brought new items and interests to the English people.

The next wave of immigration came from the Indians due to them staying after voyages with the East-Indian Company.

The most notable Indian immigrant is Sheikh Din Muhammad, which is said to be the man who introduced shampoo and therapeutic massage to Britain, along with opening the first Indian restaurant.

This is another clear sign of real changes in British culture, coming from immigration. Dean Mohamed later opened what we today would call a spa, where his therapeutic massages saw great success.
