Historically, guns have been associated with freedom in America, the Second Amendment – the right to bear arms, following the First one which guarantees the freedom of speech.

Originally government was intended to exist only at the whim of its citizens, meaning that in case of officials violating their basic rights, they could lead an armed revolt to get those freedoms back.
