Geert Hofstede built the cultural diagram as an onion. The hidden meaning with this model is that the more you peel of the onion, the better understanding you will have of the certain culture.
It’s a simple technique to learn some foreign cultures better. The four manifestations of culture are able to analyze and describe any culture.
On the outer layer there are symbols, this could be food, national flag, monuments etc. Whereas the next layer is heroes, these are previous and current public figures who have had an impact on the country and their culture in some form.
