The elements in a crime story are still typical today, but it’s quite clear that even though we still see a lot of the elements, they changed a bit throughout the years.
The psychological crime story, The socio-critical crime story, The crime story as a symbol, the new police story and the crime film.
These are the elements in today's crime story, which are usually described as archetypes, as they are a take on the original elements.
Josh Cook’s blog article is written to give the reader an understanding as to why many people read and are fascinated with Sherlock Holmes.
They are often attracted to his personality and the idea of being able to act in the same way as him with the same amount of confidence that makes it okay for him to be an arrogant detective, who doesn't care about what he says and who he says it to.
Josh Cook also mentions the difference it would have made if Sherlock Holmes was portrayed as an African-Amercian or a woman.
How we allow Sherlock to behave is a rather big part of the culture and how it’s socially acceptable for a white man to behave like that at all times.
He uses open-end questions to make us realize the difference it would have if Sherlock Holmes was portrayed by someone else.
