Uddrag
The short story “Uncle Dougie’s Suitcase” by Alastair Chisholm is about a little kid named Douglas, whose uncle is coming to visit.

Every time the uncle visits, he brings a gift from an exotic destination all around the world. But this time is different. Douglas doesn't receive the gift when the uncle arrives.

This makes him curious and when he is asked to take his uncle's suitcase up the stairs, he opens it and looks for the gift.

To his surprise the uncle catches him doing so, but instead of getting mad he starts telling a story about looking at things you shouldn't. An old friend of his went missing after breaking “the rule” at an airport carousel. No one ever saw him since.

Uncle Dougie explains “the rule”, that is: “You mustn’t ever look,”1 even though you are tempted. 1 “Uncle Dougie’s Suitcase” by Alastair Chisholm p. 2 ll. 87-88 Douglas loves when his Uncle Dougie visits. He loves his company and the gifts he brings.
