Imagine that you are a college cheerleader, and you have worked your whole life to get to where you are now. You’re at one of the top colleges, and in a few months, it’s over.
And what is waiting for you? a professional team, a career?... Nothing is waiting for you, when you are done, you're done. It’s not like in Football or Basketball, where there is a chance to get on a professional team and get a career. Do you think it’s fair?
First, we will take a look at the football players injuries. Boys that play football get a lot of physical injuries like headache when they tackle each other. But they wear safety equipment to prevent severe physical injuries.
Then we will take a look at the cheerleaders injuries. Those who really get injured by cheerleading is the girls called “flyers”, they gets lifted and thrown into the air and have to trust that their teammates catch them and catch them right if and when they fall.
All this without safety equipment! Therefore does a lot of cheerleaders get serious injuries. Besides physical injuries, cheerleaders do also get some mental health problems.
Again it’s the “flyers” who have the biggest risk by their sport. They have to think a lot about their diet such as what they eat and how much they eat because they can not weigh too much when their teammates throw them into the air.
