Indledning
The short story “Tell the women we’re going” by Raymond Carver (1982) takes place in the U.S around the south areas.

In the story we meet Bill Jamison and his best friend Jerry Roberts, who is also the more dominated one in their friendship. We also meet their wives: Bill’s wife, Linda, and Jerry’s wife, Carol.

The story is about two very close friends, Bill and Jerry, who have always been as two of a kind and shared everything together.

One day when they were at Jerry’s place with their wives and kids, the two guys go out, where they meet two girls on their way, and followed them to an Indian cave. The story ends with Bill realizing that Jerry killed the girls.

Uddrag
In the beginning of the story we hear about Jerry and Bill’s past, and they seem to be a lot closer and share everything.

Whereas for the ending they become further from each other, and don’t share the girls, as they used to. Another thing to notice is that Jerry has always been surrounded by women in his life.

When he was younger, he and Bill would date and bang the same girls. Later on Jerry drops out of school, because he gets married to Carol, and becomes a father for two girls. This may also be the explanation for why he kills the girls in the end.

It may have been a way for him to release the aggression and frustration he has on women. Even though they don’t change as people throughout the story, Jerry does get what he had held inside out.
