Uddrag
Brexit is a term for Britain´s exit from the EU. It also a deal about the future relationship, between the European Union and the UK.

They will negotiate after the actual British exit. On June 23rd, 2016 the British people voted on Britain should leave the European Union.

The result was a majority in favor of leaving the EU; 48% voted “remain” and 51% voted “leave”.

The 29th of March 2017, Britain officially announced that they want to leave the European Union; But how does the younger generation react to that announcement?

Social; “Those who have grown up with the UK as part of the EU in the last 40 years take the ease of travel, of studying abroad and of being able to work in countries across Europe, for granted.”;

Students in the UK have in the past decade a 50% increase in the number of UK students going abroad through the Erasmus Scheme program.

In 2014 alone, over 15,000 students went to study or work in 27 different EU countries, but this is most likely to be reversed if UK leaves the EU.

As EU citizens, young brits have access to jobs in 28 different countries. They are able to travel, work and even move wherever in the EU´s single market.

All these advantages young people currently enjoy, but Brexit would mean fewer opportunities to live in multicultural communities, to study abroad cheaper.

Identity: Many young people feel insecure about their identity. Are they British or European; or British and European?

It can be a tough choice when countries do not work together. Britain´s youngest generation has grown up with an uninterrupted peace across western Europe and has experienced what life can be like when countries work together for the greater good.

This doesn’t mean that they took the peace and cooperation between EU countries for granted. How could they know Brexit would appear?

Their increased political activism is a part, that they are becoming more aware of.

They are becoming more aware of supporting Europe, which cooperates and develops together, and for a country that embraces diversity, freedom of movement and internationalism.
