We live in a world today where the main population is affected somehow by changes that builds trauma in them. But how can trauma affect a person and their future?

In modern-day society, it gets treated with psychologist visits and medication. In Big Two-Hearted River part 1, written by Ernest Hemmingway, published in 1952

Hemmingway sets focus on the trauma he experienced during his involvement in World War 1 and how his character Nick deals with the trauma and the recovery.

The constant use of the same words is also a portrayal of Nick and his constant need for control and reassurance.

The language also never mentions anything directly, but you always have to read between the lines.

For example, is Nicks participation in World War 1 never mentioned, but you have to guess yourself to it.

Therefore, the language seems to be very straightforward and uncomplicated, while in the meantime every word is picked out carefully to have a specific meaning to the text.
