Indledning
In this day and age, rape culture is a hotly debated topic that often divides opinions. We live in a society where it is getting more excused and normalized to rape and victim blame because of the societal look on gender and sexuality.
This is some of the topics SLUT by Katie Cappiello debates. The play tells a story about Joey Del Marco a 16-year-old girl and how she handles her experience with sexual assault and the prejudice, judgement and shaming that follows.
SLUT illustrates the damaging and negative effects that rape culture, victim-blaming and social media have on our society.

In the ending of SLUT, we see another character development in Joey. She gets more confident in herself and starts believing that she made the right choice reporting the assault to the police.
“But that, “so what?” I told you I had said, “No,” and that I had begged them to stop. And they didn’t and … no matter what I did. They were wrong.”. (s. 46 l. 2, 3, 4)
In this quote Joey is referring to how her rapists are in the wrong. She stops blaming herself and starts to realize that the assault isn't her fault, even though she feels shame.
This makes the reader view joey as a more likable and relatable character because of how challenging it is to face a traumatic experience and still get through it in the end. Therefore, knowing that joey is going to fight for her case makes the reader view her as more relatable .
