Good morning students.
My name is Laura Christensen, and I am the director for the Modern Retail Association.

I have been asked to give a speech about the “future of retail” to you students who are studying retail marketing and management here at the University of Washington. I appreciate that you have chosen me.

First, I am going to present my analysis of the current challenges for the retail industry and then I will discuss how retailers can survive and thrive in the future. Let us begin.

Malls out of business.
As you may know, the technology is constantly improving. It has its pros and cons.

The “brick and mortar” industry is marked by the e-commerce. The “brick and mortar” industry is stores with physical storefronts. Analyses indicates that 1 of 3 malls in the U.S. could be out of business.

Based on current challenges it is caused by e-commerce. did opened stores across the country and that didn’t help the firms.

People can now stay home instead of going out while shopping. It is easier, faster, and more convenient for the people.
