A night with friends hanging out and talking about everything and nothing, and then the night ends out in what none of you could have anticipated.
That is what happened to the narrator and his friends in the short story “The Baddest Dog in Harlem” written by Walter Dean Myers in 2001.
In the room there was a dead dog as well and resident started crying at yelled at the cops once again. They went to another room, and in there a dead black boy was lying in his bed with the television still on.
The short story takes place in Harlem. Harlem is a known ghetto in the United States and known for its majority of African American citizens and a high unemployment rate.
Police coming to Harlem was not unusually, and therefore the reaction from the young boys was not to panic.
