Really welcome. I am glad to see so many have come.
To you who do not know who I am; My name is Christopher xxx. I have come here today to tell you a little about the "American Dream", and what this topic means to me. But first I want to tell you a little about my background, so you can get to know me a little better.
I grew up in difficult conditions. My parents went apart when I was 6 or 7 years old. I did not have much to do with my mother, and my father had no money. He did not have enough money to raise the deposit to rent an apartment, and many times, we were threatened with being thrown out of our apartment, and ended up being homeless for a year.
We slept wherever we could: the toilet at a railway station, we did bed down in parks, at a church shelter, or under my father’s desk at work after everyone else had gone home. We ate in soup kitchens, and what little money we had, was spent on putting me in day nursery so my farther could go to work.
