Hello my fellow student.
The American dream… it is something we all have in us. Something we all want. Something we all need.
The phrase “American Dream” was officially invented for just 90 year ago in a book called ‘The Epic of America’ by author James Truslow Adams.
He argues that is was “that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each of us according to ability or achievement”.

The American Dream the drastically changes during the 60. During the 60’s the Civil Rights Movement began and influenced the nation.
Now instead of focusing on solely on the singular individual and the family. The American Dram now focused on the greater good of the nation.
It morphed into a dream that included peace and greater freedom in the United States. Rather than that suburban house with the perfect family.
The dream was now to create a completely equal America, where African-Americans and Caucasians could lice in peace and cooperation to improve and better the American.
In 63 Martin Luther King Jr. gave the one of the most well-known speeches ever. In front of thousands of people he gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
This speech was inspired by the 60’s concept of the America dream and hoe he had his own American Dream in which white and black would walk together as equals one day.
