Good evening everyone. I would like to welcome each and everyone one of you, that took some time out of your precious life to listen to me talk about the American Dream. Many of you might not know me, while others may have seen me in the hallways. My name is Saim, and I am very thankful for getting the opportunity to talk about the American Dream, which has been a very debatable topic over the years.
In my speech, I will talk about the original meaning of the dream, the effect of globalization, poverty, our president Donald Trump, what it takes to achieve the American Dream today, and my personal opinion on what Trump could do to make, as our 45th president of the United States would say, ‘the American Dream great again’.
The American Dream has been a hope for all Americans for years now. The Dream has been a symbol of endless possibilities for those, who are ready to work hard for it.
We have heard the word used by politicians millions of times before but what is the American Dream in reality, and what does it mean? The American Dream was first mentioned by James Truslow Adam , where it was described as a land “of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable” .
Everyone seemed attractive to the idea, and the United States of America was turned into a pot of various cultures, religions, races, languages, and ethnicities. For years and years, everything went by smoothly, however recently everything changed. This was not the old America we all knew and loved anymore. What happened you may ask. The answer; Donald Trump got elected.
