Walk Don’t Run
In Walk Don’t Run the short story it is a little bit over the place, we are going to experience the trouble about going from a child to an adult and all the problems it comes with, we get an insight of pressure and how it affects us as human beings.
We are going to learn about patience, advice and responsibility which is one of the most important tools to have when growing up.
The narrator asks questions a couple of times in the short story and talks as a person to the grandmother I can point this fact out with this (line 91) ‘’I ask my grandmother questions sometimes.’’
which is unorthodox for a short story, another example of this different short story is that we don’t have narrator as a main character very often, in the short story Walk Don’t Run we see the narrator as a main character, the narrator is Julia who is 14 years old. with the grandmother.
The whole story’s core is that we have these relationship issues between the narrator and Johnny who also is a character from the short story, Julia has a conflict throughout the story too, she wants to be an adult and we get an insight of going from childhood to adulthood, we have these conflicts which is what the short story are based on and from this we can assume that the narrator doesn’t use a chronological order throughout the short story. In the beginning we see a presentation and get to know the different characters which is orthodox for a short story which is getting to know the main characters and getting an introduction to the plot of the short story.
