Othello is over 400 years old. It is written by one of the greatest writers of all time. Othello is written as a play. Its still an interesting story. The character Othello goes through a transformation throughout the play.

Its interesting to see affection the other characters have on his behavior. But the play do not just consist of some interesting characters. The themes in the text gives the play another dimension.

Throughout the play, is Othello developing from being a self-confidence general, to become an insecure man who questions his love Desdemona’s faithfulness.

Othello´s development during the play, is caused by Iago and his manipulating nature. Because of Iago’s envy towards Cassio and his hate against Othello, comes Iago up with a plan to bring himself on top.

Several times throughout the play, is Iago questioning Othello and his new right hand man Cassio. “He, in good time, must his lieutenant be, And I, God bless the mark, his Moorship’s ancient.”

As it can be seen in the quote. Is Iago questioning Othello’s appoint of Cassio. “One Michael Cassio, a Florentine, A fellow almost damned in a fair wife, That never set a squadron in the field, Nor the devision of a battke knows.”
