Hello everybody and thank you for coming. It's great to see so many people. My name is Ida Mikkelsen and I'm very happy to be here today. In my everyday life, I am a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I have been asked to speak for immigration in Britain, which means a lot to me.
In the speech, I will discuss whether immigration is good for Britain and who disadvantages there is. Among other things, I will come across the economic, social, cultural and political issues. But before I begin the speech, I would like to say one more thanks for this wonderful opportunity.
Immigration in Britain is a major subject across Britain. In the last couple of years, immigrants have come to Britain and have been trying to find a job.
For many years, people with poor qualifications have immigrated to England. Most of all, they come to get a life with better opportunities in a country where there are better work opportunities and better neighborhoods. Many also come because of war in their own country or to be with their families who already live in the country.
There are many who have prejudices about immigrants and their work ethics, especially in Britain. They believe that immigrants take jobs away from the British and take over Britain.
Immigrants drain the system economically, that's what most people think of. Because they firstly take all the jobs from the people who are from Britain. In addition, they also take over many housing sectors. But at least immigrants take care of their jobs. Is it not okay that immigrants take all the jobs we do not want?
