The short story “Goldhawk”, composed in 2016 by Katherine Magyarody, narrates the story of Dinara Akhlamatova, a conscientious computer programmer, who currently is the only female working at her company.
This leads to an immense amount of contemptuous prejudice, underestimation and downright discrimination from her fellow male coworkers.
Especially after the intense purges, where she doesn’t lose her job, her colleagues are convinced it is for the diversity of the company, that she wasn’t discharged. One day, a tremendous golden hawk emerges, summoning the attention of everyone in the company.
Dinara is fascinated by the pulchritudinous creature and feels a special connection to it, specifically after she realizes that her coworkers are underestimating the bird and its intelligence just as they consistently do with her…
