Dear students.
Thank you for having me. I'm honored to be with you here at Leiths School today.

My name is Isabel Smith and I’m an entrepreneur focusing on food waste. I’m from New York and 25 years old. I am standing in front of you today because I have something on my mind that I find very important to share.

Another thing that also surprised me was that: “a staggering 20-40% of fruit and veg produced by UK farmers ends up wasted; either left for animal feed, ploughed back into the land or sent to landfill, because supermarkets don’t want them” .

I think it is time to change our mindset when it comes to fruit and vegetables. They do not have to look perfect and it is wrong to throw it away just because they do not have a regular form ! Have that in mind the next time you buy groceries.

I am not only here to scare you and tell you the rough truth about the real world. I am also here at your High School to mention what you can do to stop food waste as an individual.
