However, the average person does not know that the textile and clothing manufacturing industry is the 2nd most polluting industry and has one of the worst effects on the environment.” This industry is only surpassed by the oil industry. Primarily due to the fast production. But what is the importance of corporate social responsibility to companies and what are the challenges faced by the manufacturers of fast fashion?

One of the biggest issues we face these days when speaking about the fashion industry is a term called ‘fast fashion’. but what does fast fashion actually mean? In order for us to solve this problem and over to a sustainable industry, everyone needs to be on the same page.

Fast fashion can be defined as inexpensive and trendy clothing produced rapidly by mass-market retailers in response to the latest trends.“It’s all about the profit, not the cost. The cost of labor, the cost of polluting the water, and the cost of many people’s lives when a fire breaks out at their workplace.”For example, the Rana Plaza in Dhaka, Bangladesh collapsed in 2013 crushing 1,138 to their deaths and injuring 2,500.

That was when the Fashion Revolution was born. This concept was created to make some changes and was aimed at bringing people and organizations together. Orsola De Castro is one of the co-founders of the Fashion Revolution. There are roughly 40 million garment workers in the world today where 34 million of them are women.
