’Bone Deep’ is a short story written by Martin Malone and was released in 2018. The short story follows our narrator, who finds out a skeleton has been found in a well
that he usually sits on while waiting for the bus. ’Bone Deep’ uses a motif of A skeleton in a well to comment on how a family tragedy can make a family’s relationship crumble.
Then Terry is introduced. Terry is the twin who survived the car accident, caused by the Dad. The accident made Terry paralyzed from the waist down and incapable of taking care of himself.
Now his life revolves around his handicap. His brain is damaged as well, which makes him mentally not present. Their mom is at bingo, and the only thing we know about her is that she doesn’t like leaving Terry.
There’s an inner war building up inside the family. Especially between Ann and the father, since they often fight about Terry.
