this story is written and told by Anand Giridharadas, the story is based on real life, but Is told from his book the True American: Murder and Mercy in Texas, Published 2014.

In 2005 Anand became a journalist, covering India for the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. His first published book was India calling in 2011

later he published the True American: Murder and Mercy in Texas in 2014. He has written three books altogether, and now appears regularly in public speaking’s and on TV.

The purpose of this speech is to inform people of the suffering of the second class in the us, and why it is suffering (proven on page 3 line 76 – 77)

‘A newly minted American citizen, he had come to believe that Stroman was the product of a hurting America that couldn’t just be lethally injected away’(proven again on page 2 line 45 – 46) ’

In fact, he observed that many with the fortune of being born American were nonetheless trapped in lives that made second chances like his impossible’.

The American Dream was thriving, but only in India. In America, not so much’. He brings out a strong message of what kind of America people are living in today, and why it is relevant. by using this specific example here (page 3 line 114 – 118)

And don’t console yourself that you are the 99 percent. If you live near a Whole Foods, if no one in your family serves in the military, if you’re paid by the year, not the hour

if most people you know finished college, if no one you know uses meth, if you married once and remain married, if you’re not one of 65 million Americans with a criminal record – if any or all of these things describe you, then accept the possibility that actually

you may not know what’s going on and you may be part of the problem’ , Anand makes it very clear that not all is innocent, he does not explain why the 99 percent are part of the problem

but it might be implied when saying it is everyone’s fault, because they are accepting the fact that they live in a country that supports inequality, and racist behavior.

It Semes that Annand finds the economic situation of the second class in the US relevant because, it plays a major role that the American people pull themselves together, and defeats the injustice system, the second class is suffering under.
